August 2021 Baking Challenge

By Tessa Arias
August 1st, 2021

Announcing the official recipe pick for the August Baking Challenge! All of the details and rules for how to participate in the challenge for a chance to win one of the PRIZES are detailed below.

Last month for the July Baking Challenge we made Homemade Ice Cream.

Thanks so much to everyone who joined in. I loved seeing the creative ice cream flavors everyone made from cookie butter to strawberry cheesecake to mint chocolate chip!

Once winners are randomly drawn and then personally confirmed, they’ll be announced on the blog and on social media, as always. Each winner has 48 hours to respond before we re-pick a winner, so it sometimes can take a few days to announce.

Without further ado, I am super excited to share AUGUST’S Baking Challenge recipe pick.

This month we’ll be baking…

Thick, chewy, and soft, these oatmeal cookies are bursting with ooey gooey chocolate goodness that everyone will love. They’re ready in just 30 minutes and make the perfect back-to-school treat! Lots of customization ideas are listed on the challenge landing page.

Yum, these are delicious! I’ve learned so much from you like how to measure flour and warm dough vs cold dough. Have you researched oven types and how that affects baked cookies? I have a propane gas oven and even though my oven thermometer say 350 and I set my timer to the lowest time in your recipes, my cookies seem a bit over done.

Hi Margo! We’ve only tested the difference between convection and convention ovens in this article here. Are any of your cookies more done than the others? I wonder if you might have a hot spot in your oven. What I would suggest doing is the “toast test”. Bon Appetit has a great article explaining how to do that, click here to read. This way you can figure out if your oven actually bakes quicker than you think! Hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions!
