Tessa here! Taking a total break from recipes for a day to get to know each other better! There’s quite a few questions I get asked all the time so I though it would be fun to do a little Q&A sesh and chat a little. I always enjoy learning more about my favorite bloggers and YouTubers, so hopefully you guys feel the same. I loved filming this and our Malti-poo Alfie made a surprise guest appearance, so keep an eye out!

Also, if you’d be interested in a house tour or a full list of all the products I think every kitchen should have handy, let me know below.
What if you don’t have milk at the time to make Chinese fried donuts can I use water?
Hello,
I’d love to try making your raspberry buttercream frositng, only I want to add blue food coloring, –Theme, Frozen for my two year old. Have you ever tried adding blue food coloring rather than the red food coloring? Might you know if the red preserves stands out?
Thank you!
PS. YOU ARE AWESOME!
Awe thank you so much Erika! I’ve never tried what you’ve described before. If it doesn’t work and if you don’t mind using artificial flavor, you could always get raspberry extract and use that instead of the preserves. Extracts like that are often found at grocery stores, speciality or gourmet kitchen stores, or bakery supply stores. Or there’s always Amazon 🙂
Great job on the video, I’d definitely like to see a house tour video . From the sneak peeks on your snapchat you have the Joanna Gaines touch from Fixer Upper which I love! Also do you have any suggestions for affordable dutch ovens that aren’t Le Creuset? They are beautiful but so expensive.
Thank you so much!! Love Fixer Upper 🙂 I like Lodge enameled cast iron dutch ovens as well as Martha Stewart’s brand!
Hi Tessa, The problem I’m having is my bundt pan. What can I do, to assist my pan to release the cake easier and not stick?
Make sure you’re spraying with nonstick cooking spray! Your bundt pan may also just need to be replaced. I love my nonstick Calphalon bundt pan: http://amzn.to/1rF61EA
Make sure to hand wash it with a soft sponge to keep that nonstick surface in good shape.
Hi Tessa. I have a question for you. I want to make a petit cake using a whole recipe. So there will be a left over of the batter. Can I refrigerated the batter? Thank you.
No, cake batter doesn’t refrigerate well unfortunately. You’d be better off freezing the extra baked cake(s) or making cupcakes with the leftover!
I like your website but it would be easier if you did videos for some not all please
Yes to a house tour and how to equip a kitchen. It isn’t that I need to equip a kitchen-we are empty nesters and I don’t bake as much anymore (lucky we raised three daughters that do). I am interested in pairing down to the essentials. Most of what I have is good to excellent quality, I just have a lot of it. I can pass down to my children or friends.
Enjoyed the video. As a believer in using quality kitchen ware, I would be interested in what you feel a well stocked kitchen needs. Also interested in how you keep your knives sharp.
Tessa, what a fun video to see! After watching many of your dessert and bread videos and trying your recipes, I found it delightful to learn more about you! Yes, I’d love to take a video tour of your kitchen and home– that would be fun! Thanks for all you do and share– just makes life sweeter!!

Just a thought – perhaps the leftover treats could once in a while be donated to a firehouse, police station, or national guard post (I believe there is one in Phoenix). You put a great deal of work and thought into your test kitchen recipes and I’m sure that these public services would appreciate the gesture.
Oh I definitely do, my dad is a police officer 🙂
Well done Tessa! I enjoyed your video. You have a great camera presence. Would you enjoy working on the Food Network and possibly hosting your own show? (Sorry, no, I’m not affiliated with them so this is not an offer of a position. Just a question.)
Thanks, Laura!! I’m not sure… it definitely seems like a lot of work (I’ve heard they do three full takes for each recipe!!) but I wouldn’t say no if the opportunity came my way 😉
Great video! Would love to see your kitchen and whole house. Cooking and decorating kind of go hand in hand 🙂 I hate to think of you wasting all those yummy treats. Maybe see if there is a food kitchen or church in your area that feeds the hungry? I know they would love to take them off your hands!
Thank you!! And I know it’s really a shame. I’ve looked into tons of local food banks and kitchens and all of them don’t accept home prepared food. Not to mention most of the time it’s not exactly nutritious stuff that would benefit someone hungry and needing sustenance 🙁
