If I could, I would drizzle everything with chocolate. Months ago at a local cafe I saw a huge loaf of banana bread that had been generously drizzled with chocolate behind the bakery counter. Instantly, I added the bread to my mental list of recipes to make. Then I proceeded to forget all about it a few days later.
That was until I saw a recipe for banana bread with chocolate glaze in a magazine. I was reminded of how glorious that loaf had looked behind the shiny glass display and knew I had to make it. So bananas went on my grocery list and then on my counter where I pretty much willed them to ripen. Finally, days later, I threw this banana bread together. It made my whole house smell better than any candle. That night I enjoyed not one, but two magnificent slices before packing for Blogher Food. It’s a small tragedy that I had to give the rest of the loaf away since I was heading out of town.
I miss you, banana bread. We shall meet again.
Note: when I photographed this recipe I hadn’t sifted the sugar and cocoa for the chocolate glaze, hence the lumps. I proceeded to alter the recipe to produce a more smooth and beautiful glaze. Sifted or not, it’s still scrumptious!

I like it
I am going to try that recipe..
This Banana Bread was addictive-ly delicious. I will make this again.
Even though I don't usualy try new one I tried a recipe a few weeks ago call chocolate zucchini bread. It was a hit!
Yum!!!!! Send me a piece of that! Delicious!
Bananas turn the perfect brown for baking if you throw them in the freezer, when you are ready to use take them out to defrost and they will be mushy and ripe and perfect. Kinda gross to touch but it does the trick anytime you don't plan ahead for things like muffins or bars
As someone who loves chocolate covered bananas, I love the idea of the chocolate drizzle on this loaf
se ve delicioso y muy lindo,un lujo de cake con ingredientes que me encantan, cari
Sigh – this looks delightful!
Oh, chocolate and bananas- the most comforting of combos. Kind of like baking itself. I hope you're adjusting back to real life after a whirlwind few days. I hope to see you soon.
That chocolate glaze looks heavenly Tessa! I almost never eat banana bread unless it's covered in a glaze of some sort 🙂
Banana bread and I are good friends, but I could easily fall in love with chocolate glazed banana bread! A smear of peanut butter added to a slice of this bread would leave me absolutely smitten.
