You only need 6 simple ingredients and less than 5 minutes to make this homemade Everything Bagel Seasoning recipe! Inspired by the famous Trader Joe's seasoning, this DIY version is perfectly garlicky and crunchy. Perfect on bagels or avocado toast!

Since you can mix up what you use your everything seasoning with, this recipe never gets old!

Who would have ever guessed that everything bagel seasoning would have taken the world by storm?!

Over the last couple years, there’s been a bit of a craze over the Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel Seasoning. I can see why with the perfectly salty, oniony, garlicky flavor.

I had to start making my own at home because the tiny spice jars sold at the stores were just not lasting long enough.

And for those of you who don’t live close to a Trader Joe’s and would love to make your own DIY Everything Bagel Seasoning… I’ve got you covered!

I’m sharing exactly how easy it is to make everything seasoning right at home with just 6 ingredients.

How to Make Everything Bagel Seasoning

What is in Everything Bagel Seasoning?

  • Poppy seeds
  • White sesame seeds or black sesame seeds
  • Dried onion flakes (not the same as onion powder)
  • Dried garlic flakes or garlic powder
  • Kosher salt or coarse sea salt
  • Caraway seeds – not all everything seasoning contains caraway but I prefer it! Feel free to omit if you don’t have it

What do you put Everything Seasoning on?

  • On my Homemade Everything Bagels, of course! Don’t forget the cream cheese.
  • These bagel bombs
  • Use in place of pretzel salt prior to baking on Soft Pretzels
  • Sprinkle over avocado toast (or sliced avocados)
  • Baked potatoes
  • Over salad for some extra crunch
  • On sliced cucumbers
  • Popcorn
  • Hummus
  • Eggs
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • To season chicken

Absolutely! This seasoning blend recipe doubles or triples very easily.

How to store Everything Seasoning:

Store in an airtight container or sealed jar in a cool, dry place. You could even store in a glass spice jar for easy sprinkling. Or, a small deli container with a lid.

How long does Homemade Everything Seasoning Last?

Everything bagel seasoning will last for up to 6 months if stored properly.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons poppy seeds
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 2 teaspoons onion flakes
  • 2 teaspoons garlic flakes or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt or coarse sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, add all ingredients and stir until well combined. Store in an airtight container or sealed jar.
