I am SO excited for this post!! I finally get to bring you into our home!
After my love of food, baking, and recipes comes my love of home decor (and also makeup!). I could watch HGTV for hours and pin dream homes for days. It all makes sense if you consider that two of my best friends and my business mastermind partner are all designers by trade.
For me, the look and feel of a space is truly important. I work from home so having a place that makes me feel happy and inspired is seriously a game changer. I fully believe the world and aesthetic around us has a huge impact on our well being.
We moved into this house a little over a year ago, and it took about that long to get it looking the way it does in the video below. We pieced things together slowly to make sure we were developing a style we both enjoyed and to avoid breaking the bank.
As you’ll see, most of our furniture and decor is super affordable or was done DIY-style. And I tend to have awesome luck with sales and clearance items. We’re definitely not completely ‘done’ with the house (is that even possible?) but I didn’t want that to stop me from sharing what everything looks like currently.
I hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think in the comments below, and any suggestions you might have for some of the things I mentioned in the video.

Hi Tessa-
Thank you for the tour. Your home is so neat. I’d be curious to know why you like quartz over marble. I’ve had neither but will be building a house in the next few years and could use some tips. I envy your office space. Thanks again.
Great question, Rose! The house actually came with quartz and I’ve never had marble, but I know it can be quite high maintenance. Marble requires a lot of special care and can stain and damage much more easily than quartz. In fact, quartz is super durable and easy to maintain. I think if I had to pick, I’d choose a quartz that looks like marble to get the best of both worlds 🙂
What a great tour, Tessa! Loved all of your touches and DIY projects 🙂 So jealous of your closet!!! Thank you for sharing 😀
Thank you! I swear, having a separate closet and bathroom sink makes for a much happier relationship 😉
Thank you for sharing the tour with everyone! So lovely! We seem to shop at the same places haha….Target, Hobby Lobby, Wayfair, Michaels etc! Please share any new home projects with us 🙂
Thanks Mary! Yes we do 🙂 I’ll be sure to share any new projects with you!
Hi Tessa. Great home tour! You have done some really neat things with your new home. Love your decorative touches. Your husband’s casita is a pretty neat hangout, too. Keep up the great work you’re doing with your blog. Enjoy the long weekend, Jill (Sacramento, CA)
Thanks so much Jill! Hope you enjoy the weekend too.
OMG – lovely house and decorations! Really love the flooring also. Thanks so much for sharing such a personal piece of yourself. 🙂
Thanks, Sandy!!
Your house shows that it is possible to have an elegant home on a budget. Thanks for all the great tips. I agree with you that the lamp in the bar area should be outside of the chairs but think it should go on the right. Then it can do double duty by providing task lighting for someone sitting in that corner of the couch. I love being in the “elbow” of my couch to read or knit so lighting is important.
Thanks, Debbie! That’s originally where I wanted it too but it kind of blocks the window and the dogs like to look out there… it keeps them occupied lol 😉
You have such a beautiful house and awesone sence of fashion. Thanks for opening it to us!
Thanks so much Aurora!
Tessa, that was simply a delightful tour and we appreciate you letting us into ‘your world’. You have a wonderful eclectic sense of style, which I love. It is casual and comfortable and not at all stuffy. I wish I had your organizational skills! Love the industrial pipe shelves, and the drapery was well worth the splurge. Everything comes together beautifully!
I’m impressed you do so much from a smaller kitchen. Mine is also a galley type so I have no excuses! 😉 It will be fun now to see your posts and know just where they are coming from!
Thanks for giving so much to your appreciative audience! You’re the best!
Thank you, Laura!! That’s such a good point, now you can imagine exactly the kitchen my recipes came from. Love that!
thanks for opening for home and sharing your plans on the tour. an even bigger thank you for taking the time to run down and post all of the links!
regards
mary
You are so welcome, Mary!
Thank you for the home tour. Your home is so pretty and it’s so encouraging to see a young wife enjoying homemaking. I plan on forwarding your video to my daughters who also enjoy this. God Bless. Oh, a I I loved seeing your sweet dogs.
Thanks Delores! The dogs make a sneak appearance in many of my videos 😉
So nice. Have a great weekend
Thanks, Liz!
Thanks for the tour of your beautiful home! It looked like a model home. I loved your decorating, and the house was spotless! I also loved the dogs. I have a yorkie myself.
Thank you!! Our yorkie says hello to yours 😉
