I am SO excited for this post!! I finally get to bring you into our home!
After my love of food, baking, and recipes comes my love of home decor (and also makeup!). I could watch HGTV for hours and pin dream homes for days. It all makes sense if you consider that two of my best friends and my business mastermind partner are all designers by trade.
For me, the look and feel of a space is truly important. I work from home so having a place that makes me feel happy and inspired is seriously a game changer. I fully believe the world and aesthetic around us has a huge impact on our well being.
We moved into this house a little over a year ago, and it took about that long to get it looking the way it does in the video below. We pieced things together slowly to make sure we were developing a style we both enjoyed and to avoid breaking the bank.
As you’ll see, most of our furniture and decor is super affordable or was done DIY-style. And I tend to have awesome luck with sales and clearance items. We’re definitely not completely ‘done’ with the house (is that even possible?) but I didn’t want that to stop me from sharing what everything looks like currently.
I hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think in the comments below, and any suggestions you might have for some of the things I mentioned in the video.

Thanks for sharing your house! Love your style. So awesome you even have a guest house. Your backyard has a lot of potential; I’m sure you will make it awesome 🙂
Thanks, Stephanie!
Hi Tessa, WOW !!! what a lovely warm n imaculate home you have there. Thank you for inviting us in. Enjoyed reading your blog n most/all of your DIY postings too. Am from Sydney Australia, atm am on no pay leave for a period of time as my youngest adult son has a medical condition and have been almost a full time carer for him for the last 4 months. Keep up your good work and definitely will be reading/watching out for your post. God Bless.
Thanks so much, Catherine! I’m so sorry to hear about your son and I’m sending both of you well wishes.
Hi Tessa, great tour. You have a lovely home. I have a suggestion for the living room standing lamp. A lamp works best if the light is coming from the right. Take care Tessa and may you and your husband only have happiness in your new home.
Be well,
Lin 🙂
the hone trip was wonderful
Thank you for sharing. Very nicely done, you accomplished a lot in one year.
And, you do such a great Job Tess. Love your site and your personality.
Really nice home and great job Tess. Maybe just too many sticks, so, in the bathroom remove the sticks and replace with hydrangea colored the same as the tile in the shower, which are so great in color. Get a closed in bar and place it beside the chairs and make that little bar you have into a coffee table and get a large picture of you Jarred and the dogs and place it above the bar at the entrance of your lovely home. Love the kitchen would not remove the entire wall but just cut out the middle section, put a hand crafted counter with stools and opaque shutters to close when the kitchen is a mess and you are entertaining. This way you don’t lose all your lovely galley kitchen space.
Thank you for your lovely and informative house tour.
Your home is simply beautiful l!!!!
Jared gets kudos for all of the things he built for your home.
Thanks also for letting us know where you purchased the many items
for your home.
I am such a fan of yours……I LOVE your blog !!!
Thank you so much Marlene! He is quite handy, I’m lucky 🙂
Thanks, Tessa!
It was really fun to see your beautiful home. If I did a tour of mine, I’d have to spend the rest of my life organizing … and then where would we be? I loved how light and airy your home is, as well as the calm and peaceful atmosphere.
Appreciatively,
Pam M. from upstate NY
Haha! Luckily I’m slightly obsessed with organizing 😉 Thanks Pam!
Hi Tessa, you do have a lovely home and a great eye for decor. You have said many, many times just how hot it gets in Arizona during the summer months, I wonder if you also get the levels of humidity we get here on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia? The floor is amazing!
I love the casita your man is very fortunate to have his own space!
Thank you for inviting us into tour world.

Thank you! No, Phoenix has a bone dry heat. It often feels like you’re inside an oven during the summer. The dryness makes it easier to power through but it’s really bad for allergies, skin, and hair. I visited family in Melbourne this past March (my mom is an Aussie!) and heard about just how humid and tropical it feels where you live. I’m not sure which is worse!
Tessa, you are such a delightful person. I love receiving your recipes and I enjoyed the home tour and especially that little Aussie animal on your shelf in the office. We have met before at the home of Steve, the Aussie Pie guy. It is wonderful to see your passion for baking and willingness to share with others. Thank you.
Oh, hi Judy!! Thanks for commenting! Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for letting us into your lovely home! I only have one comment: that vanity mirror is too small for ur lovely face! Haha! Just kidding! I am one of the many who appreciate ur work..keep it up!
Haha!! It is quite small, I have to prop it up on a stack of makeup palettes so I can see myself without hunching over. Maybe it’s time for a new one 😉
