Tessa's Recipe Rundown...

Taste: These smell like peanut butter cups and when you bite in there's extra chocolate and Nutella goodness. Nutella and peanut butter are two of my favorite things in the world and I think they belong together. Texture: Crispy, gooey, chewy. Ease: Just a few ingredients, no baking, super easy! Appearance: These look like plain ole' chocolate rice crispy treats so the Nutella-peanut butter surprise is extra special. Pros: Fun twist on the classic dessert. Cons: Usually I like to make desserts completely from scratch but sometimes I just have a craving for a childhood favorite that I can't deny. Would I make this again? Yes!

I recently decided one of my 2014 goals is to read at least one book a month, preferably two. Right now I’m reading The Book Thief and am about halfway done but I think I’m reading it slowly because I have no idea what I’ll read next! What were your favorite books of 2013? Anything I NEED to read??

Speaking of needs, you need to make these Nutella Peanut Butter Rice Crispy Treats. They are outrageous. When I made these I stored the leftover treats in a ziptop bag on the kitchen counter and every time I walked past them not only where they alluring me by simply being in sight, but the heavenly aroma of peanut butter and Nutella was almost intoxicating. Love!

Any reason why you didn’t use Dutch process chocolate? Just curious.

Nope! This is just an older recipe of ours so it’s not specified, but feel free to use Dutch process cocoa! If you’re interested, check out our article about how to know when to use Natural Cocoa vs. Dutch Process Cocoa Powder. Hope that helps!

Yum. These I’ve got to try.

And my all time favorite book that I recommend to everyone: Outlander.
Starz is currently making this into a series – I think it will be on this fall.

    These sound great Tessa!

For books I can definitely recommend some series – Game of Thrones, Wool trilogy by Hugh Howey, and my absolute favourite, Finnikin of the Rock trilogy by Melina Marchetta. Enjoy!

These look delicious! Do you think they would stay good in the mail, or would they become a melty mess? I know regular Rice Krispie Squares usually mail well, but the chocolate my cause a problem.

I think these would stay good in the mail as long as you didn’t ship during the summer!

I’ve actually never had Nutella before (craziness, i know. everyone i know loves it! my boss used to buy it in bucket-sized jars at Costco! lol). I think I’ll need to try these out! And Rice Krispie Squares are always a classic 🙂

Oh and for books, if you haven’t read the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy, you totally should!

    Ooh these look amazing!

I just finished reading ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ which was pretty good, but my all time favourite book is ‘A Little Princess’ by Frances Hodgson Burnett, it’s all about using your imagination to escape the situations you find yourself in 🙂 At the moment I am imagining making these treats in our finished kitchen – roll on next month!
